Council Budget Hearings (Feb 2nd, 3rd and 4th)

The Ames City Council will have a 3day series of of marathon budget meetings reviewing the city's draft budget see the agendas for Feb 2, Feb 3 and Feb 4. Please revue the city mangers budget letter for a good summery.

Last week, we heard about the CIP, which is the plan for physical improvements for the next five years. The budget being discussed Feb 2nd, 3rd, and 4th details the programs, services, and operational costs for the upcoming fiscal year only. (The City’s fiscal year runs from July 1st, 2016 through June 30th, 2017.)

Each department head will present the highlights related to their areas. Topics to be covered at the Tuesday night meeting include: library, water, storm and sanitary sewer, traffic, garbage, economic development, airport and cemetery.
