The Ames City Council begins at 6:00 PM. The agenda includes:

1. Discussion with Consultants regarding Lincoln Way Corridor Plan Study.

Council will discuss the following:

Identify 5 issues/concerns facing the Lincoln Way Corridor. Examples (more than 5) include: Traffic congestion, poor walkability/bikeability, aesthetics, vacant properties, snow removal, disconnected neighborhoods to the west (no sidewalks), poor linkage to Main St., heavy pedestrian traffic near campus, no direct connection to I-35, lack of green space

Determine the 3 most important of the aforementioned issues/concerns w/ Lincoln Way: Council will determine these based on discussion of the previous item

Identify 3 specific projects/actions to undertake on Lincoln Way: Council will determine these based on discussion of the previous item

List strengths and assets of Lincoln Way corridor: Straight, uninterrupted, wide, centrally located, name recognition, history, connection between downtown and Campustown, connected to arterial streets (Duff, Grand, etc.)

2. Motion to appoint Council Member Betcher to serve on Downtown Housing Study Project Committee.

A group of ISU Design students last fall came up with several ideas for residential and mixed use projects to attract young professionals to downtown. The AEDC is forming a committee to follow up on this, and as one of the two Council representatives to the AEDC, Gloria Betcher has offered to serve on said committee.
