Voluntary Annexation and Several Subdivisions
Bronwyn's Council Preview |
The City Council meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. this Tuesday at city hall. The agenda includes (but is not limited to):
-
29. Scenic Valley Subdivision, 4th Addition.
-
This 23-lot Hunziker Co. subdivison, north of Aldrin Ave. and west of GW Carver, is unique in that the storm-water will drain to a wetland in the adjacent property to the north owned by Kurt Friedrich. Both storm-water and utility easement conditions have been met, and staff recommend approval.
-
-
30. Resolution approving Final Plat for Deery Subdivision, Plat 2 (1810 SE 16th Street).
-
This minor subdivision request will divide a small parcel (4.55 acres) into two buildable lots, partly to facilitate the construction of a new hotel (Spring Hill Suites) along S 16th, west of Dayton Ave.
-
-
31. Southwood Subdivision, 4th Addition.
-
This is follow-up on the subdivision of the old Kmart building. Part of the property (Lot 1) will be used for mini-storage, while Lots 2 and 3 will have facade improvements, and will be available for other uses.

This is the follow-up on an annexation request, initiated by Council at the request of Burgason in May of 2019. The plan is to rezone some of the properties to F-PRD (planned residential district) to facilitate the development of single family residential homes in the area. Much outreach was done, and both the County Board of Supervisors and the Ames Planning and Zoning Commission have approved this request.
