The Ames City Council begins at 7:00. The agenda includes:
-
Breckenridge Development
-
Item 42 -- Breckenridge Development Agreement.
These issues are all surrounding the Breckenridge development. There is a unique element surrounding the conversation. State law requires a super majority (5 votes) to rezone when an official protest has been filed. This law is geared at protecting the interests of those who live near the rezoning site while respecting the land rights of those landowners who might request a rezoning.
-
Item 45 -- Hearing on 2014-2018 Consolidated Plan in connection with Community Development Block
Grant Program. The CDBG Program has shifted its resources, through a great deal of public input, towards improving the availability of affordable housing. -
Item 47 -- Request for alternate Campustown URA Criteria for 2300 Lincoln Way. The Urban Revitalization Criteria for Campustown requires fixed windows, due to safety concerns. Opus, has requested a section of the windows be operable, but will be installing hard metal screens in these sections to eliminate the risks of projectiles.
-
Item 49 -- Staff report on request from Chuck Brekke for Urban Fringe Plan amendment. The UFP creates an industrial reserve. The residential property would not be very compatible with such a use.
-
Item 50 -- Staff report on drainage concerns at 4006 Stone Brooke Road. A resident builds an addition which is below grade. Now the resident is looking to the city for help, as rains are threatening this addition.
-
Item 52 -- 2013 Carbon Footprint Report. The City of Ames has been working to decrease our carbon footprint for years, and continues to do so. Man made climate change, continues to challenge communities all over the globe. In the interest in preserving our planet for our great, great, great, great grandchildren, we continue to work to limit our contribution to the release of millions of years of Carbon Dioxide into the air in mere centuries.
-
Item 53 -- Update on City Council goal to strengthen Human Services.
