The Ames City Council meets on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom. The agenda includes:
-
1. Ames Plan 2040 Workshop. In this eleventh and final planned workshop before releasing a draft comprehensive plan for public comment, the Council will discuss principles and potential actions associated with Ames's Community Character and Culture. Our staff and consultants also point out four main themes that have emerged in the process to date that cut across multiple chapters of the draft plan: Sustainability, Health, Flexibility/Choices, and Equity/Inclusivity.
Non-Agenda Packet: The following items are requests and communications to the council that are not on the agenda for full discussion. This includes staff reports and communications or requests from constituents and developers. Typically the council will ask city staff for more information (a memo), put the item on a future agenda for deliberation and possible action, or just accept the communication, taking no further action. Council generally processes these requests and communications during the agenda portion called "Disposition of Communications to Council."
- AMS Design Committee. Ames Main Street (an affiliate of the Ames Chamber of Commerce) previously presented design preferences for Main Street and now clearly identifies some specific requests: that the city revisit and update the entire Main Street Streetscape based on its present deteriorated condition, that the existing 4 level pattern hierarchy of the existing pavers be maintained when they are replaced, and that the short wall on the north end of Tom Evans park be removed, with the paving altered to create a ring around a live holiday tree.
