The Ames City Council meets on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall. The agenda includes the following. Note that you can generally click on individual agenda items below to get the full staff report or other explanation.
- 1. Budget Overview for Recommended 2022/23 Fiscal Year .
On Friday, we begin the process of reviewing the operating budget for the city. We already reviewed the C.I.P. (capital budget) at our workshop on 1/18, with public comment on 1/25 (one person spoke). We have meetings Friday from 2-6 then next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5:15-9ish to review the budget in its entirety. This Friday will be an overview, including the proposed property tax rate change for this year and the overall economic condition of the city. Next week, each of the departments will review their proposed operating budgets. Public comment is then taken at the next regular Council meeting.
